The judges of “Britain’s Got Talent” were shocked when a young dancer changed gears in the middle of her act.
Hollie, 10, seemed like a normal dancer before her tryout. She had a pink and purple skirt on and a cute scrunchie in her hair. When the hosts made fun of her outfit, she laughed.
“Let me try to guess what you do,” they said. “A little bit of magic?” She laughed and told him “no.” Again, they laughed, “Juggling?”
The judges weren’t quite as impressed. Even though they talked to her in a soft voice, they didn’t seem very interested in her act, especially when the music started. The first minute of Hollie’s show wasn’t very interesting. She did some simple twirls and jumps, but they weren’t very exciting.
She looked like a normal 10-year-old girl who had danced a few times. It was clear that when she was done, the judges would be easy on her.
But Hollie opened her mouth and started singing before the last sounds were played! She sang along to “I Could Have Danced All Night” from the play “My Fair Lady.” Her voice was deep and almost operatic. The crowd gasped and cheered, and the judges couldn’t believe what they were seeing. She had surprised everyone.
When she hit a clear high note at the end of her performance, the whole crowd stood up to give her a standing applause. The judges also had a lot of good things to say.Amanda Holden said, “It’s crazy how talented you are,” and she was “stunned” by the voice that came out of her tiny body.
Piers Morgan said, “We’ve seen a lot of kids on this show over the past three seasons.” “None of them have ever sung as well as you.”
Simon Cowell also had nice things to say about Hollie. He said that he had made assumptions about her skills based on her song choice and outfit, but when she started to sing, he was blown away.
He told Hollie, “I think you have a great voice,” and the crowd went crazy. Hollie made it to the next round, and a video of her tryout went viral very quickly. Everyone outside the studio was just as amazed by her many talents as everyone inside.
Hollie is still singing after 10 years. In an interview with the “Lorraine” show, the 20-year-old talked about her recent return from a one-year cruise ship where she appeared in the show “Grease.” She also said that many people still remember her from “Britain’s Got Talent.”
